One year we bought 5 large holly trees from Reems Creek. They were delivered. Three are set so that they can be seen from the kitchen window. One is in the shrubbery, one on the driveway bank. They have lots of berries, but they are eaten as soon as they turn red.
Jerry came home with 3 holly bushes one year which were small enough to plant under the big oak tree. They are OK with some shade and get a good morning sun.
In northern Virginia, the woods are so pretty in the winter because of the holly trees under the deciduous trees. We might be putting berries in the woods. . . .
We also have a volunteer holly in the woodland garden, close behind an orange rock.
